Do you ever find yourself wishing “If I could only get this job, then I wouldn’t be so unhappy at work.” “I wish I had more money so that I could be more generous.” “If I had more time so that I could read more.” “If I could lose 10 pounds, I would be more confident.” If you are like us, then you catch yourself making these statements more than you would like…
In modern times we have so many distractions, so many things driving us into a cycle of discontentment. Endless cell phones buzzing, email barrages, busy schedules. We are habitually discontent creatures, slaves to our various masters, yet we are in denial of our own idolatry. We find new cheap substitutes to mask our discontentment- checking Facebook or Instagram, shopping online, walking around a certain store (“*cough, cough* Target” -Trevor referring to me) when you don’t actually need anything and just want to “look.” Since we are constantly distracted and fighting fires, we rarely find time for quality activities like quality family time, opening our Bibles, exercise, or prayer.
Each of us have been entrusted with individual talents, time, and treasures by God, and the way we invest them reflects our personal priorities and relationship with God. In this 3-part series, we hope to share practical actions you can take to create time for the things that are most important. If we can prove to be trustworthy with little in this life, God will entrust us with more and more. God calls us to seek Him above all else and to steward His gifts.
PART 1: DISCOVERING AND INVESTING OUR TALENTS
How to set goals THAT ALIGN WITH God’s PURPOSE for our lives, and actually achieve them
In Part 1, we will review the importance of setting God-honoring goals both individually and as a couple, and provide practical tips for how to begin making real progress through accountability.
PART 2: Finding freedom with INTENTIONAL Time MANAGEMENT
How Proactively scheduling our dayS AND WEEKS can create more time
In Part 2, we will explore how planning in advance can lead to more intentional time for the things that are most important. Building on concepts from Part 1, we will learn how to schedule our time to align with our mission, values, and goals.
PART 3: Finding Freedom in Our TREASURES
how applying BIBLICAL principles to our finances can allow us to live WITH FINANCIAL PEACE
In Part 3, we will learn why it is important to be financially free, especially in our debt-promoting culture, and how we can actually give and keep more money if we prioritize correctly. Our money is a reflection of our priorities and we must intentionally give and invest it, much like our time.
