Ideas for a more joyful and fulfilling 2023
With 2023 just around the corner, I’m sure many of us are ready for a new start. This post was originally written in 2020, what had been the craziest year in my lifetime- I’m sure anyone reading would agree. With that being said, 2020 was also one of the BEST years of my life because of God’s faithfulness and His love and care in growing my trust in His plans. I have learned that relying on HIM is the key to a life of contentment on this earth with the HOPE of what is to come.
We have seen His faithfulness continue in 2021 and 2022, and have no doubt it will continue in 2023. We invite you to keep reading for ideas to cultivate a more joyful and fulfilling new year. Check out our NEW RELIANT JOURNAL to take the next step in putting these practices to work!
Trevor and I have a few practical things that we do on a regular basis in order to be reminded of the characteristics of our Good and Gracious God and we would like to share them with you as an offering for a more joyful and fulfilling New Year. These tasks, while seemingly “extra”, have helped to grow us both in our relationships with God over the course of this year, grown us in our understanding of God’s Word, and have helped us to see the growth that God is doing in us.
MAKE A GOAL BOARD
The first task that has been most effective in our development as individuals, as a couple, and as servants of God has been without a doubt the development of our Goal Board. We unveiled the FINDING FREEDOM SERIES earlier this year and we will be re-sharing it over the course of the next few days for those who are interested. Now is the time, friends! This is a pivotal step in growing your spiritual gifts in a way that glorifies God! Check out the series and subscribe to our email list to follow this series with us.
READ THE WHOLE BIBLE
The second task that we set as a goal for 2020 and plan to continue maybe forever(???) is the 5-day Bible Reading Program that allows us to read the whole Bible in a year! This has been one of the most fruitful goals and I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to grow their relationship to God in the upcoming year. If you’re wondering WHY or HOW to read the WHOLE BIBLE, check out our post here!
GET PLUGGED INTO THE LOCAL CHURCH
With everything going more and more virtual, we highly recommend getting involved in your local church. We need the local church for community and, as Acts 2 tells us, we are to be united and of one-mind with the body of believers.
There are many benefits of getting involved with the local church, but our top 3 recommendations for WHY to get involved in the local church are as follows:
- The local church encourages us to worship together-
- Acts 2 is very descriptive on how the early church lived life together and grew as one mind in the unity of Christ. With virtual services, we don’t come close to God’s design for worship and living life together as believers. We are stronger together.
- Small groups give us a community to walk through life with-
- When we get involved with the local church, we are able to build a community with people who may have seemingly nothing in common, yet share a more important love of God. This allows us to grow in our love for God by growing in diversity and overcoming worldly differences.
- Serve the local community using our time and money to grow God’s Kingdom
- The local church knows what the needs of the community are and will guide us in how to best serve those around us. While the local community may not know God, the local church allows us to plant seeds in growing God’s Kingdom by our service to those in need.
